Vaanam Music Review : Behindwoods
Starring: Str, Anushka, Bhaath, Vega, Santhanam
Direction: Krish
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Production: Cloud Nine Movies (Dhayanidhi Azhagiri)
Vocals: Silambarasan, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Abhishek, Lawrence, Benny Dayal, Andrea, Srikanth DevaLyrics: Silambarasan, U1, Na. Muthukumar, Abhishek, Lawrence
Direction: Krish
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Production: Cloud Nine Movies (Dhayanidhi Azhagiri)
Vocals: Silambarasan, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Abhishek, Lawrence, Benny Dayal, Andrea, Srikanth DevaLyrics: Silambarasan, U1, Na. Muthukumar, Abhishek, Lawrence
Evandi Unna Pethan
Vocals: Silambarasan, Yuvan Shankar Raja
Lyrics: Silambarasan, U1
Overpoweringly attractive is the simple verdict to mark ‘Evandi Unna Pethan’ for its electrifying beats and an excellent sound engineering. Silambarasan’s lyrical lines are catchy but he could have limited himself from certain lines. This track has become the favorite amongst youngsters. The accompaniment by bass guitar adds more intensity to the song. It’s a perfect song for the party animals.
Vaanam
Vocals: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar
This is the cherry-pick of the album as it establishes the soul of this film. Having worked on the song nearly for three months, Yuvan Shankar Raja has come up with a remarkable performance. Na. Muthukumar has penned the song based on philosophical theme of ‘Where God is? Nowhere but in the hearts of those who repent for their sins’. Sounds like the song will appear during the crucial point of this film. The mild and beautiful chords played on guitar followed by distorted guitar heard during interludes embellish the song. ‘Vaanam’ is one of the best compositions of Yuvan Shankar Raja. The producers should have got this number as single-track album as it would have gained more attraction for the movie.
Cable Raja
Vocals: Abhishek, Lawrence
Lyrics: Abhishek, Lawrence
A mass number exclusively meant for STR fans. It sounds like an introduction song for Silambarasan and it is reminiscent of Yuvan Shankar Raja’s yesteryear song ‘Variya’ (Pudhupettai). The song includes the titles of Simbhu’s previous and upcoming movies.
Who Am I
Vocals: Benny Dayal
Lyrics: Na. Muthukuma
Yuvan takes us for a ride through heavy metals and live drums that sound perfectly as a rock number. The lyrical lines centers upon a young man’s quest of himself just as the title signify ‘Who Am I?’ It may take some more time for the song to get its hold upon the listeners. The reason is because the instrumentals sound louder, thereby eclipsing the clarity of lyrics. Perhaps, if the essence of song is perceived clearly by listeners, it’s sure to make its way on top of charts. It sounds like the song is about a character confused to decide between his dreams and outside influences.
No Money. No Honey
Vocals: Silambarasan, Yuvan Shankar Raja

No Money. No Honey
Vocals: Silambarasan, Andrea, Srikanth Deva
Lyrics: Na. Muthukuma
A time-worn song that speaks about ‘Role of Money’ in everyone’s life and it’s an unstrained effort from entire team. Years back, we have come across a similar song titled ‘Chenna Pattanam’ from the film ‘Allithantha Vaanam’. Simbhu and Yuvan have picked a part of tune from ‘Nalam Thaana’ (Silambattam). With the song involving Simbhu, Anushka, Santhanam and producer Ganesh, we can expect that the song will gain more attraction with the visuals. Andrea steps out of her usual pattern of crooning melodious numbers and experiments with a fast-Kuthu number.
Verdict: ‘Vaanam’ can be regarded as one of the Yuvan’s better composition and it is sure to make high waves now. While ‘Evandi Unna Pethan’, ‘Vaanam’ and ‘Who Am I’ touches the surpassing degrees on different styles, ‘Cable Raja’ and ‘No Money’ caters to the tastes of mass audiences.

Evandi Unna pethaaan On first place
Song: Evandi Unna Pethaan...
Music director: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Singer: Silambarasan
Source:BehindWoods
Music director: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Singer: Silambarasan
One of the most colloquially written songs you will ever come across; lyrics has never got more casual or ‘off the cuff’ as this. Silambarasan has chosen to go berserk with the pen here; wonder what got into him. Yuvan has done the honors by giving it the fast, racy and foot-tapping feel that was required; the youth seem to be loving it.

STR and TR sing again
This father-son team has got together yet again for a film directed by Shriram. The last time we saw this duo together in ‘Vallavan’ for the song ‘Yammade …’ Now the father and son are singing different numbers, belonging to different genres but in the same film. The film is titled ‘Doo’ and TR will be singing a fast-paced ‘kuthupattu’. T. Rajender is synonymous with fast-paced ‘gaana’ songs and this song will find a place on the top slot among the front benchers.
Simbu will be singing a melodious number in the film. ‘Mundhinam Parthene’ hero Sanjay will be the hero of the film and the heroine is debutante Nakshatra. She is the younger daughter of actress Sumitra. Sumitra’s elder daughter Uma, was introduced to Tamil Cinema by Bharathi Raja in the film ‘Kadal Pookal’.
‘Doo’ is a rom-com and a feel good film and contrary to the title, the team of the film is a youthful and friendly crew and cast. Manasa too appears in this film as the second heroine. With twin heroines on the cards is ‘Doo’ going to be a triangle love story? Let us wait and see.
Sources close to the film’s unit have revealed that ‘Doo’ is in the post-production stages and is looking forward for release in April. Let us hope ‘Doo’ is a splash of cool this scorching summer.

Vaanam Music Review : Galatta
Simbu’s Vaanam is one of the much-awaited summer releases in Kollywood. The story revolves around five people who meet in the climax of the film due to unforeseen circumstances. Vaanam also has Anushka, Bharath, Vega, Prakashraj, Sonia Agarwal, Jayaprakash and Ganesh in prominent roles. Every time Simbu teams up with Yuvan, you can expect an explosive album in the offing! And this time too there, is no difference; so here we bring you an exclusive music review of Vaanam!
The album begins with the energetic ‘Evan Di Una Pethan’ which is already topping the charts. The song is rendered perfectly by Simbu; Yuvan’s English raps in between form another major highlight. Music director Yuvan Shankar Raja has made the song very peppy by using heavy beats. Apart from singing, Simbu has also penned the lyrics for this simple and colloquial song.
Then comes the desi ‘No Money No Honey’, a typical ‘kuthu’ number. Srikanth Deva, Andrea and Simbu has rendered this peppy dance track. It is a mass kuthu number likely to be picturised on Simbu and Anushka. However, the music is too loud and dominates the lyrics.
Next is a solo number ‘Vaanam’ rendered by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The song is likely to appear in bits and pieces throughout the film. When the guitar strumming begins, you already know this track’s going to stay on ‘repeat’ for a while.
Benny Dayal has crooned the fast-paced, energetic ‘Who I Am’. Check out for some amazing instrumentation from Yuvan in this track. This angry track is likely to appear when the hero gets frustrated on life. The opening of this song reminds us of ‘Uriyin Uriye’ from Kaakha Kaakha. The heavy drum beat and catchy lyrics will definitely attract many young listeners.
‘Cable Raja’ is likely to be the intro song for Simbu (as he plays the role of Cable Raja in the film). Abhishek and Lawrence have sung this mass number. We are already expecting some electrifying dance moves from Simbu in this track.

‘Vaanam’: Fantastic five
Producer VTV Ganesh is optimistic about ‘Vaanam’, a multistarrer which has STR, Bharath and others in lead roles. “The story revolves around five important characters,” he says.
“The five characters will remind you five elements- sky, air, water, fire and earth,” the producer says on the movie directed by Krish, which is a remake of Tollywood trendsetter ‘Vedam’.
“While Simbu is the sky, Bharath will remind you the air, Anushka water, Prakash Raj fire and Saranya the earth. The film is about how these panchaboothams come together,” Ganesh adds.
Plans are on to release the movie at the earliest. “With a single from ‘Vaanam’, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, already becoming a hit, we expect that other songs too would top the charts,” he further says.

Silent charity of ‘Vaanam’ team
The ‘Vaanam’ team that was in Mumbai to shoot the music video of the single track ‘Evandi Unna Pethan’ has quietly made some charity donations to a deserving child who lost her house in a fire accident.
When the unit was in Mumbai, it heard that there was a fire accident in a slum colony and it destroyed the house of Rubina Ali, the young girl who shot to fame with ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. Rubina Ali was living in that slum with her parents.
After hearing the incident Dhayanidhi Alagiri tracked the girl and made a charity donation of 50, 000. Seeing it the audio company also gave Rs. 21, 000 on its part to help the girl. Silambarasan handed over the money to Rubina and wished her better times.

SIMBU ROCKS IN MUMBAI
Simbu is a happy man. Ever since his single Yevan di… from the film Vaanam hit music stores, Chennai has been humming the song. And soon, of B-town will follow suit.
The actor who is in Mumbai shooting for the video of the song is kicked about lending his voice for the Hindi version.
“This is my first attempt in Bollywood. Initially, the team was not sure whether the single would work as it was just one song,” says Simbu, whose character in the film is called ‘Cable Raja’.
All their doubts were swept aside the minute the Tamil version of the song was released.
“Venus Company was extremely pleased with the outcome and they wanted a Hindi version. So we decided that we’d release a video album of the track.”
After lending his voice for the Hindi version, Simbu, who has no experience of singing in Hindi, says, “I enjoyed recording for my first Hindi song. Shabeer Ahmed has penned the lyrics for this version.”
The actor says, “I tried to understand the lyrics while recording and though I’m not too comfortable with the language, I’m sure I’ll perfect it in future.”
This may be his debut song in Hindi, but singing by itself is not new to the actor, who says he’d welcome similar offers in Bollywood films. “Why not? It’s pocket money, so I’ll surely take it up.”
The track will be filmed on various sets and the actor says, “Ahmed Khan, who choreographed the Tamil song, will be doing the Hindi version as well. We’ve already discussed the sets and sequence.”
According to the actor, huge sets have been erected to go with the theme of the song. Hip-hop and jazz will be the highlights of its choreography.
“It’s a typical club scene,” adds Simbu.
Ask him about who’s pairing up with him for the Hindi song and he says, “Jasmine danced with me for Vaanam and we have signed up a new girl for the Hindi version.”
The video album is likely to release around April 9, which is the tentative date of release for Vaanam.

Simbu to entertain, Bollywood soon
The song Evandee Unna Pethaan… in Vaanam, written and sung by Silambarasan along with music director Yuvan Shankar Raja, is making waves.
The single song teaser album, which was released a few weeks back, is topping the charts and has become a rage. The film’s producer Ganesh is all set to launch the Vaanam album (with all its songs) in a big way on March 15 in Chennai.
And now, Simbu has decided to experiment with the song in Hindi! The actor, speaking from Mumbai, told TOI, “After hearing the song, the Mumbai-based audio company, which is marketing the album, wanted to me do a music video in Hindi. I’ve been shooting simultaneously for the Tamil and Hindi versions of the song in Film City, Mumbai, for the past three days.” The actor adds that he has rendered both the versions of the song in his own voice.
Simbu says the Hindi version of the song will be premiered on Bollywood music channels shortly. Noted choreographer Ahmed Khan is directing the video. The filmmakers have put up a ‘pub set’ in which part of the song was shot, with 60 dancers from Mumbai in addition to 30 dancers flown in from London.
Says Simbu, “Though the focus of the song is more on style — the lighting and showcasing the pub culture, I’m very happy that Ahmed Khan was impressed with my dancing.”
Producer Ganesh explains, “The idea is to create an all-India buzz about Vaanam, even though the film is not being dubbed in Hindi. I’m sure the song and Simbu will take north Indian audiences by storm when it is shown on national music channels whose reach is phenomenal. Recently, Maddy’s Tanu Weds Manu promo song helped the film become a superhit. I think we have to think out-of-the-box to promote our films.”
