Galatta : Happy Birthday Simbu

Silambarasan aka Simbu is a symbol of the revolutionary new-age heroism that influences Kollywood today. Introduced with the catchy title ‘Little Superstar’ to the industry, both Simbu and his star dad T. Rajender have firm plans to give their individual bests.
For the blessed star kid Simbu, opportunities to get into the industry were plenty. Even when he was young, the fledgling performer in him could test and prove his talent in almost all his father’s productions. With that sweet look and cheeky smile, Simbu was part of some remarkably emotional scenes; with his childish diction, he mouthed long and tongue-twisting dialogues. Another highlight of his early hero regime was his astonishing dance movements; as a matter of fact, the aura of speciality continues even today. Simbu’s dance is still a notch above all his counterparts’ presentation and his movements are virtually impossible to copy. Till he readied himself for his hero debut, Simbu kept appearing in Rajender’s films in significant bit parts coupled with dance sequences. In fact, Rajender believes his son’s presence is the lucky charm that has helped his movies run to packed houses.
Similar to his introduction, his launch as hero took place through his father’s production Kadhal Azhivadhilai. Though not a big hit, his acting fetched Simbu roles in Dum and Kuthu, his next big portrayals positioning him as a more image-oriented star. In both these films, Simbu tried his own concept of using his fingers to symbolize some antics and the style got noticed among audiences and critics. Further, Alai with Trisha and Kovil directed by Saami earned him a more secure place in the industry. Judging it to be the suitable moment for establishing his style and identity, he took a year’s break and worked on the script of Manmadhan; the effort proved his instincts and timing right; Manmadhan became a sensational hit.
Following Manmadhan, he temporarily gave up direction and script work to act in Thotti Jaya, a gangster film directed by Durai. Then came Vallavan with Simbu’s story, screenplay and direction. Gautham Menon’s sensational love story Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa is his latest hit after a reasonably long hiatus. Simbu underwent a complete image makeover for the film, which had Trisha as the heroine. He has now completed the shoot of Vaanam, remake of critically acclaimed Telugu film Vedam. He is now working on Poda Podi, the heroine debut for another star kid: Sarathkumar’s daughter Varalakshmi.
Acting is the key to the multi-tasking skills of this professionally perfect all-rounder. Apart from acting, he continues to sing, edit, dub (for Dev Patel’s role in Slumdog Millionaire), script and direct. In this workaholic’s place, the sun never sets, no feat is impossible, and his feet are always dancing!
Galatta.com wishes this young actor a very happy birthday!

Indiaglitz: Happy birthday STR

He is a man of many talents. Silambarasan aka STR, one real multi faceted artiste of Kollywood is celebrating his 27th birthday today and IndiaGlitz wishes him all the very best for great years ahead. His new year is going to be one his best as all the films lined up this year are eagerly awaited ones.
For a child artiste who started his career in 1987, the coming year will also be his silver jubilee year in films. In an impressive career, Silambarasan has touched upon all trades of cinema. He is an actor, a script writer, a dialogue writer, a choreographer, a playback singer and what more? Perhaps all in one.
His never say die spirit is holding his flag aloft all these years. From his first film as a solo hero ‘Kadhal Azhivathillai’ to the next immediate release ‘Vaanam’, Simbu has proved he cannot be put down by external factors. Bouquets or Brickbats, Silambarasan has learned to take them both with the same emotion. That’s shows how matured he has become over the years.
From a romantic boy in his first film Simbu has evolved trying many characters and proved he is worth the adulations he has been getting. The psychopath in ‘Manmadhan’, the orphaned gangster in ‘Thotti Jaya’, the flamboyant lover in ‘Vallavan’ and to cap it all the serene single-minded lover in ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’ , all these characters have ensured that one just can’t ignore Silambarasan. After the good things happened with VTV, Silambarasan is setting his vision on higher things. His revolutionary ideas have always paid him rich dividends. The latest being the single number for ‘Vaanam’ that has become the new anthem for the lover boys in town.
In the upcoming films Vaanam, Podaa Podi, Vettai Mannan and Valiban, Silambarasan is sure to reveal many other hidden professional talents in him. All these films are on top of the minds only because of Silambarasan.
So “Where is the party tonight?” Simbu is said to have a quiet birthday this year without any revelry. But his very close friends are not going to let him stay that way. Sources say they may surprise him in the last minute with a gala bash.
As a child artiste in the movie ‘Samsara Sangeetham’, Silambarasan danced to a song singing “I am a little star, Aaaven Naan Super Star” more than twenty years ago. Looking back at his journey he has achieved what he aspired.
Once again, wishing Silambarasan a Happy Birthday from IndiaGlitz!
