STR confrms ‘Dabangg’ remake
All eyes are on STR today, even as his ‘Vaanam’ is opening big. But the actor is not as tensed as one would expect him to be. Hoping good times for the mulistarrer at the box-office, he speaks about his future projects.
“Podaa Podi will be my next release. I will finish shooting for it soon. As far as ‘Vettai Mannan’ is concerned, shooting is taking place as scheduled and the film is shaping up well,” he says.
Confirming a longtime buzz, he says, “Yes, I am going to do ‘Dabangg’ remake. Dharani will direct the film and I am eagerly looking forward for the shoot, which is expected to start in June.”
On walking out of ‘Ko’, which hit the screens last week and doing extremely well, STR says, “It’s purely a professional decision and I am not worried about it. Because I have a winner like ‘Vaanam’ and the film will speak on behalf of me.”

Simbu pushed to tears !
It was celebrities in all the four directions near four frames yesterday! They had come to watch the special preview of Vaanam.Along with family of STR ,the crowd included the Chennai 28 group of Premji Venkat prabhu Aravindh Akash Pia Bhajpai.
The poda podi group consisting Vignesh shiva Varalakshmi Sarathkumar Dharan Kumar and others like Satish Divyadharshini
Vettai Mannan’s Director Nelson along with his friends also came for the preview. It should be said for a preview the noise made for simbu’s name on the screen was superb. And for every santhanam’s sleezy oneliner we could see premji shouting and clapping proving the cohesiveness of artisits of tamil cinema.
We could see a lot of girs cheering for evandi unna pethan song which is literally a treat to eyes with simbu’s expressions! During the intreval many already wished STR that this film will be the best in his career but after the second half and the climax not many could not see STR properly as the tears masked their vision!. But the thing was even STR cried after climax..
But the reason for his tears should be different , for all the problems he has faced over the days this response should make him feel really happy and he comprehended it with tears..
I am proud, and happy with Vaanam: STR
Silambarasan is back. His Vaanam is all set for release tomorrow, April 29 worldwide. And STR as he is now known is a happy man. In the midst of release tensions, he spoke to sify.com
What is your state of mind?
It was hectic for the last few days as we were trying to release the film against all odds. I have to thank my dad and Dhayanidhi Alagiri of Cloud Nine for making this happen. Now, Vaanam is having a big, multiple release in best of screens and the film is distributed by our family concern Kural TV Creations in Chennai and Chengelpet.
Do you have regrets of not doing Ko which is now turning into a hit?
See, acting is not something you do in a haste. It is important for me as a profession and its the closest thing to my heart. I will never want to take up a film for the sake of taking it up. I waited for the right film to come up. Please watch Vaanam and decide for yourself, why I chose to do this film. I have no point to prove anybody. I just do my job my duty as an actor and interesting films.
Why did you choose to do a multi-starrer like Vaanam after the stupendous success of Vinnai Thandi Varuvaaya (VTV)?
Vaanam may be a multi-starrer but every character has their own importance in the script and my character of Cable Raja is there throughout the film. Do you know that in one of a private show, the audience got up and gave a standing ovation? I can guarantee you that the film will leave a lump in your throat after watching it.
Tell us more about Cable Raja?
You will love him more than you loved Karthik of VTV. He will make you laugh and cry. I am very happy that my decision to do this film has not gone wrong. It is an answer to all my friends and detractors.
Has competition bothered you?
Competition is a harsh word to use for the work we are doing in films fraternity. We work in a healthy atmosphere where there is insane work for everybody. There are more than 150 films made today in Tamil and can any one or two actors do them all?
How was it working with Krish and your favorite star Anushka?
Krish is a very smart worker, who knows what he wants from each and every artist. Anushka is extremely confident and dedicated actor (smiles).
Among the songs, only Evandi in the film is a hit. The other numbers are pretty lukewarm. Please comment?
Vaanam is not a musical and there are only three songs in the film. The opening song Who am I with Bharath establishes him as a rock star. Then the Evandi Unnai pethan number and No Money, No Honey in the second half. I am sure audiences will love it after watching the film.
Note : Competition should be healthy. And to have competition with our Thalaivan STR Silambarasan we need even more from the opponents. We are least bothered with the anti – Simbu comments and articles from rookie mindless persons as we are here without any support from SUN Tv and Kalaignar Tv

Vaanam ready for release
Vaanam has been awarded with a U/A certificate and is ready for release. The Censor Board officials also muted some of the dialogues in the film. The movie will hit the screens on April 29th, 2011. Vaanam has created a lot of expectations as this film is a remake of the Telugu hit flick Vedam. Also, this is Silambarasan’s first release after the astounding success of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya last year.
Vaanam is directed by Krish, who had also directed the Telugu version. Anushka plays the female lead in this film. Sonia Agarwal, Bharath, Vega, Jasmine and others also share the screen space in this film.
